A few weeks back I had the pleasure of judging a kids cooking competition at The Cook’s Warehouse.
To be honest, I was a little scared. What was going to be on the menu? Booger sandwiches? Kids are gross, I know because I have a baby boy and he is often gross/trying to feed me pre-chewed cheerios. Okay, a 13 month old isn’t the BEST reference for actual 10-17 year-old child chefs, but it’s what I’ve got.
Whoa baby was I wrong – I thought I was going to get:
(Psst… I made THAT ——->)
And what I got was this:
Um, they made Mahi, they made tasty pork tenderloin, they made upside down strawberry cake – they made their own BREAD. Say wha?? They knocked my socks right off.
I’m signing my kid up for this camp the moment he hits the minimum age – like the very minute he does. The kids took so much pride in their work and looked like they had a lot of fun doing it.
I “borrowed” these pics from the actual event – not the gross one where EVERYONE is touching the pasta (or my baby), but the rest – from Chef Carlin (who coordinate this whole thing)’s blog – so be sure to check her out here.
